A crispy, flavorful Korean fried chicken coated in a spicy gochujang sauce, perfect for a quick and delicious meal.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 2 lbs chicken wings or pieces
  • 1 cup potato starch or cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey or corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

Instructions 

  • Combine chicken with salt and pepper.
  • Toss chicken in dry mixture of starch and flour.
  • Deep fry chicken at 325°F (160°C) for 10-12 mins, then drain.
  • Increase oil to 375°F (190°C) and fry chicken again for 3-5 mins until crispy.
  • Simmer sauce ingredients until thickened, then toss chicken in sauce.

Ensure oil temperature is accurate for crispy results.
