Instructions
Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
Cook chicken in simmering broth for 15 minutes, then shred and set aside.
Make gravy: sauté onions and garlic in butter, add flour, then gradually stir in broth and half and half to thicken.
Add shredded chicken, seasonings, and vegetables to the gravy. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Transfer filling to a baking dish, top with mashed potatoes, and bake at 450°F for 10 minutes. Broil for 4 minutes to brown the top.
Notes
Use a broiler-safe dish for browning the top. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
