Instructions
Melt butter in a Dutch oven, cook vegetables with seasoning until softened.
Sprinkle flour, cook until browned, then add broth, garlic, pumpkin, cumin, and spice. Simmer and add shredded chicken and squash.
Prepare dumpling dough by mixing dry ingredients, then add grated butter. Whisk wet ingredients and combine with dry to form dough.
Shred cooked chicken, return to pot, add milk, and bring to simmer. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the soup and cook until puffy, about 8-10 minutes.
Finish with lemon juice, season to taste, and serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, do not overmix the dumpling dough to keep them light and fluffy.
