Juicy chicken breasts are seared and coated with a rich bourbon maple glaze for a flavorful and easy-to-make dish.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1½ lbs total, sliced horizontally into 4 thin cutlets)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.25 cup bourbon
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (plus extra sprigs for garnish)
  • 0.25 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Slice chicken horizontally into 4 thin cutlets and season with salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear chicken 2-3 minutes per side until cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • Carefully add bourbon to the skillet, simmer 1-2 minutes to cook off alcohol, scraping browned bits.
  • Whisk in maple syrup, Dijon, balsamic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer 2-3 minutes until thickened. Return chicken to skillet, coat with glaze, and warm through.
  • Serve chicken with extra glaze and thyme sprigs if desired.

Notes

Let the glazed chicken rest for a few minutes before serving for best flavor.
